ABOUT THE ARTISAN & DESIGNER

STEFANO NICCOLÒ MONTESANO is an Italian-Canadian painter, designer, tattooer & creative director. The atelier was founded upon the principle of creating beautiful works for the clientele of the visionary artisan and designer. The artisan is on a mission to curate, revitalize, and ultimately create a resurgence of European classical aesthetics.

Interested from a young age in the fine arts and the discipline of design as well as Mediterranean ancient history, Italian folklore and Western esoteric tradition -- the artisan sought out classical masters from Italy, USA, and Canada to study from.

Now, in the establishment of the atelier, the artisan is working to craft a visionary aesthetic which weaves together fragments of these things in a refined and contemporary way. The artisan has a deep reverence for the natural world and his mission with his artisanal and creative works is to invoke a sense of the ancient and the mystical - in search of, and to presence, a primordial arcane spirituality.

MASTERY THROUGH DISCIPLINE - COMMITMENT TO STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE

OBSIDIAN BLAZE Studio is an appointment-only tattoo studio located in the heart of Kingston for me to collaborate with my clientele toward the creation of meaningful markings on the skin.

The studio practice finds inspiration from the Old Masters of Renaissance Europe, Jungian archetypal explorations of the subconscious, and impactful imagery centered around Classicism and Beauty.

Through commitment to excellence and with the totality of the finished piece in mind - I aspire to ennoble your essence and meaning through the craft of tattooing.

With a reverence for nature - I have respect for your body and canvas. I will consult with you on your ideas and concepts until they are refined to a high degree and standard before the needle ever touches skin. My promise to you is that once we are bound to work together - I will actualize your vision with clarity, purpose, and striking aesthetic.

I am deeply interested in the exploration of your shadow-self - your meaning, your reason and your concept. I truly desire to create and craft with purpose at the forefront of my action.

Eschewing the ambivalence toward man and his spirit in this age of modernity - I work to establish a trust between tattooist and client - and this can sometimes result in a personal relationship between us that is slow, thoughtful and intentional.

There is something sacred about this approach to fine craftsmanship. I find also that this way invokes something primordial - arcane even. This ideal for which I stand keeps me motivated, grounded and disciplined each day.

Through imagery, marking and symbol - we will create something truly visionary together. If collecting a tattoo from me is not something serious for you - then we are not meant to work together.
